Whoa Scott! Thank you for this. Definitely in my top five medium posts this year, which saved me about $1.50 of being more precise (top 3 maybe? ;-)
This is an approach that I’ve been unconsciously noticing, but only after reading your story I realised that there should be more detailed breakdowns of those time-savers — with data. Maybe some online tool to actually calculate this.
As someone who recently started to appreciate time more (switched to a “dumb” phone to be more present) I believe that there will be more people to appreciate “time” as a value.
… But … for many people out there it’s clearly visible they don’t value their time as much (they will gladly spend a year of their life waiting in lines instead of paying a small fee every time).
And lack of ads in Netflix is only an illusion as the shows themselves are ads (of certain lifestyles) + no “ads” means more time spent on those platforms — which ultimately (in some people) will lead to depression and a sense of a lack of achievement — then come the meds and they’re not cheap.
Anyway, stopping my rant here — this is definitely an eye opener so thank you!
