We were looking for junior designers “to train” a few years ago but sadly the main problem I found was lack of precision (in their work), lack of determination and very little ambition.

Obviously they had some talent and put in some work, but it’s often for junior designers to not try very hard. With the abundance of resources out there (learning) and meetups (speaking) it’s not impossible to break into the market. It’s just hard.

And design is one of the roles in which it’s bad to take chances. That’s why the top-heavy outcomes.

I’m trying to change that right now doing a lot of teaching (free as well) and helping out younger people out there land jobs (if I see someone with enough “drive” I’ll surely refer them).

So all in all, it’s not all bad even if the numbers stack against the juniors.

At least AI hasn’t taken that job from both juniors and seniors. Yet. ☺️
