One of the responses here showed a great example of the iOS notes app annotation ui. It used to be just flat outlines, but nokw the tools are back in 3d, albeit no texturing. I think it won’t fully come back but more playful, a bit more realistic shapes will merge with otherwise flat designs to create a hybrid.
