Hey Ian, thanks! The examples on the left (sticking in and out) both have an inner border that’s white and with lower opacity (between 20 and 50%). The two shapes on the right don’t have that border. It’s all a matter of which effect you prefer :)

PS. You may have to zoom in on the image to see it, but most of us subconsciously “see” there’s a difference.
