How FOMO is ruining junior careers.

There is a weird dichotomy in the design education world right now.

On one hand, we have more resources than ever — including free materials. It’s amazing and I am very happy to be able to contribute lots of free materials myself. Seeing people grow as designers, get their first job and improve their lives is an amazing privilege.

On the other, the information overload combined with questionable quality of these materials leads to an overall decline in junior work quality compared to just a few years ago.

We have more and we have less at the same time.

FOMO

That overload is mostly fueled by Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) and lack of prioritetization. The content creation game is chasing clicks and running out of ideas.
