Design Thinking — Senior vs Junior Designer

Some of these stories are 100% true, and that makes them really scary.

Due to my daily work with helping junior designers progress, I naturally talk to a lot of them on a daily basis. One thing I noticed, which I think is both cute and admirable, is how much they’re commited to doing “good” work with the users being front and center.

The reality of UX is far from that

It’s more about the money for the business, exploiting the users for profit and, when it comes to UX consultancies, it’s often about stretching the process to obscure levels just to charge more.

Of course, not all of it is like that, but it happens more than many of those junior designers expect. When that reality hits them, they’re often shocked. Based on some of the conversations with UX agencies and very senior people, I created a funny/scary video how some of the design thinking process can actually look like.

Disclaimer

All the things the senior designer says in the video are based on real situations, only slightly modified.

Enjoy! 🤗
