Apple just challenged Figma.
A Free, built-in, multiplatform whiteboarding that can kill FigJam.

I wasn’t planning on writing anything about the WWDC Apple event this year, but near the end Apple dropped a true bomb. Something that’s relevant to all designers out there.
So here we are.
Apple has hinted on some collaborative features across their platforms before with SharePlay, first challenging companies like Zoom with their own built in video-conferencing that also works on the web (for non-Apple devices).
Apparently Apple wants to take a bite (pun intended) from a couple more markets. First they announced Apple Pay Later, a direct hit at Klarna, but with a 0% interest payment split.
That must’ve hurt.

Apple has a history of this
Years ago a warm hue on your Mac display in the evenings were done by an app called f.lux — it was a small Mac application that allowed you to dim and recolor the display for less eye-strain. They called it the Night Shift.
Apple copied the feature into their OS directly and F.lux became practically obsolete overnight.

Collaboration by Apple
I am NOT a fan of multiple people editing the same UI at the same time. I know it rarely really happens, but for some reasons that’s the way collaboration is mostly presented in animations and on websites. Apparently companies like Figma (and others) can’t find a different way to showcase it.
It’s a mess and I wrote an article about that last year.
